Greg to Speak at Newseum Event: ‘First Amendment on College Campuses: Speech, Religion, Sexuality, Gender’

FIRE President and CEO Greg Lukianoff will be among the experts on a March 21 Newseum event panel in Washington, D.C.: “.” The event will begin at 7 p.m. EDT.

The panel will consider the status of free speech on college campuses by focusing on some of today’s most difficult First Amendment questions, including the impact of so-called “free speech zones” on campus expression and the tension between non-discrimination laws and freedom of religious association. The panel will also discuss LGBTQ rights, mandated contraception, and the impacts of Title IX.

Eugene Volokh, a University of California, Los Angeles law professor, author, and co-founder of the influential legal blog , will deliver the keynote address and join the panel. Other panelists include Kim Colby, Director of the Christian Legal Society’s ; Hanna Rosin, author and senior editor at The Atlantic; and Heather Weaver, a senior staff attorney with the .

Marshall Breger, Professor of Law at The Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law, will moderate. This event is being co-sponsored by Catholic University’s Columbus School of Law, Moment Magazine, and the Religious Freedom Center of the Newseum Institute.
