FIRELegal Network
The FIRELegal Network is a nationwide group of attorneys to whom we refer cases when counsel is necessary and the matter at issue falls outside the scope of ÃÛÖÏãÌÒ’s mission or ability to assist. The FIRELegal Network does not require dues or other such commitments. Rather, membership in the Legal Network simply entails receiving referral emails about matters for potential assistance, monthly newsletters covering recent legal developments related to ÃÛÖÏãÌÒ’s mission, and opportunities for networking conference calls.
The FIRE(ÃÛÖÏãÌÒ) is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to defending and sustaining the individual rights of all Americans to free speech and free thought—the most essential qualities of liberty.
When FIREreceives a case submission for which we think a Legal Network referral is appropriate, we will contact members whose interests and admissions align with that case submission. FIREwill then forward the contact information of members who express interest in the case to the individual in need of assistance. Of course, Legal Network members are under no obligation to accept a case referred to them for consideration.
The level of attorney involvement may range from litigation to a simple discussion with the affected person. Some referrals involve requests for pro bono legal assistance; in others, the client may be able to pay for the legal services rendered. FIREalso partners with Legal Network members to challenge unconstitutional speech codes at campuses nationwide as part of our Stand Up For Speech Litigation Project.
