Apply now to be a 2018 FIREsummer intern!
FIRE is now accepting applications for its 2018 Summer Internship Program!
FIRE’s Summer Internship Program invites students from across the country to spend the summer at our headquarters in historic Philadelphia — just steps from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell — working directly with our staff defending civil liberties on America’s college and university campuses.
Interns will work closely with our campus outreach, defense, policy reform, litigation, legislation, development, and media teams, and will gain key insights into the mission, work, and administration of one of the premier campus civil liberties organizations in the nation.
In addition to completing research projects and helping staff members with writing, case work, fundraising, public relations, and administrative duties, interns will also have the opportunity to write about FIREcases and issues for our Newsdesk, assist with the planning and running of the annual FIREStudent Network Summer Conference, and develop strategies for defending free speech when they return to campus. FIREwill also attend weekly educational seminars with experts in the field to discuss the moral, philosophical, and legal foundations of civil liberties.
FIRE is looking for intelligent and energetic undergraduates (rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors) currently attending colleges or universities in the United States who are interested in ÃÛÖÏãÌÒ’s mission and work, and who are looking to engage in free speech activism on campus. Ideal candidates will be responsible, focused, and organized, with a passion for civil liberties and a history of taking action in support of causes they believe in. Interns are expected to demonstrate excellent research, written and oral communication skills, and an ability to work under pressure. A sense of humor is also highly welcome!
The ten-week program runs from Monday, June 4, through Friday, August 10. Interns will receive a $3,500 stipend.
Please direct any questions or inquiries to internship@thefire.org. Decisions are rolling. !
