Alex leads ÃÛÖ­ÏãÌÒ’s Campus Advocacy efforts, overseeing strategy and success across the Campus Rights Advocacy, Policy Reform, and Engagement & Mobilization teams. At FIREfor almost a decade, Alex is proud to help advance the organization’s founding commitment to defending civil liberties on America’s college campuses. 

An attorney and a journalist, Alex’s approach to campus advocacy integrates trusted legal strategy, public interest reporting, and the power of human connection. Her commentary is frequently featured by media outlets like The New York Times, the BBC, CNN, NPR, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Hill, the Los Angeles Times, and Politico. She speaks regularly at events nationwide, educating and engaging students, faculty, administrators, and members of the public on emerging campus rights issues. 

Alex is a member of the First Amendment Lawyers Association. She has a J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School, a master’s in broadcast journalism from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School, and has trained at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. After earning her undergraduate degree at the University of Arizona in her hometown of Tucson, she served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Madagascar, teaching English in rural, underserved schools and working with area journalists through the U.S. Embassy’s American Press Center. 

Alex is licensed to practice law in New York, the District of Columbia, and Wisconsin, where she lives with her husband and their three children.
